Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information jacobando.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. The site is run by Insightful Relations LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company that does business as Jacob Ando ("I", "me"). I'm the person responsible for your data under Brazil's LGPD, the EU and UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws where they apply.
The short version: I collect as little as possible. This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. I never sell or rent your information.
What I collect and why
Newsletter. If you join the mailing list, I collect your email address, and my email provider records when and where you signed up. I use it only to send the monthly newsletter, new recordings, and invitations to live sessions. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
Live sessions. You book live and private sessions through Cal.com, and they run on Google Meet. If you join, other participants and I can see the name on your Google account, and your video if you turn your camera on. I don't record live sessions. If you register, I keep your name and email to send you the link and reminders, which is necessary to provide the session you asked for.
Messages you send me. If you email me, I keep the message and your address to reply and to keep a record of our conversation.
Health information. I don't ask for health information. If you choose to tell me about a health condition, injury, or something you're going through so that I can adapt the practice for you, I use it only for that purpose, keep it confidential, and delete it when you ask. By sharing it, you consent to that use.
Technical data. Like every website, this one is delivered by a hosting provider that briefly processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. If I use visitor statistics, they come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
Services I use
These companies process data on my behalf, under their own security and data protection commitments:
- Kit (ConvertKit LLC), United States: stores the mailing list and sends emails. Kit may record whether newsletter emails are opened or links are clicked, which helps me see what's useful.
- Cloudflare, Inc., United States: hosts the website, provides basic analytics, and forwards email sent to my jacobando.com address.
- Google LLC, United States: Google Meet for live sessions and Gmail for email.
- Cal.com, Inc., United States: takes bookings for live and private sessions, and sends booking confirmations and reminders.
Recordings are hosted on YouTube (Google LLC). The player on this site uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and doesn't load at all until you press play. Once you do, YouTube receives information such as your IP address and may set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy. If you'd rather avoid that, don't press play.
International transfers
These services store data in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from yours. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on your consent or on the safeguards these providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long I keep it
Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe; after that I keep only what's needed to make sure you aren't emailed again. Registration details for live sessions are deleted within twelve months of your last session. Emails are kept as long as they're useful to our conversation, and deleted on request.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
- confirm whether I hold data about you, and give you a copy
- correct information that's wrong or incomplete
- delete your information, or anonymize it
- send your information to you or another service in a portable format
- stop using your information, or withdraw consent you gave earlier
- tell you which companies your information is shared with
Email [email protected] and I'll respond within 15 days. You won't be treated differently for using these rights. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to Brazil's data protection authority (ANPD), your local EU or UK data protection authority, or the relevant authority where you live.
Children
This site and its practices are meant for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, email me and I'll delete it.
Security
I use reputable providers, keep access to your information limited to me, and use two-factor authentication on the accounts that hold it. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects you, I'll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, I'll update the date above and tell newsletter subscribers.
